REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 22, 2010

  

BE IT REMEMBERED that on this 22 nd day of February, A.D., 2010, the Commissioners Court of Lamb County, Texas, convened in Regular Session in the Lamb County Courthouse at Littlefield, Texas, with the following members present, to-wit:
 
WILLIAM A. THOMPSON, JR., COUNTY JUDGE, PRESIDING, AND
RODNEY SMITH, COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT NO. 1,
KENT LEWIS, COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT NO. 2,
DANNY SHORT, COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT NO. 3,
JIMMY YOUNG, COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT NO. 4, AND
JAMEE LONG, COUNTY CLERK AND EX-OFFICIO CLERK OF THE COMMISSIONERS COURT, WHEN THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS WAS TRANSACTED, TO WIT:
 
ORDER NO. 1:
 
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 8, 2010 were read. Motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis to approve the minutes of February 8. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered.
 
ORDER NO. 2:
 
Consider/act on budget and salary amendments/line item transfers. There were no budget and salary amendments/line item transfers presented.
 
ORDER NO. 3:
 
Consider/approve bills presented by County Auditor. Jonell Wischaemper, the hospital administrator, discussed with the court the hospital’s expenses, income, indigent care and the money that is sent annually to the hospital from the county. Motion was made by Commissioner Jimmy Young and seconded by Commissioner Rodney Smith that all such accounts as presented in the fund requirement computer print-outs be allowed and ordered paid and presented for payment. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered.
 
ORDER NO. 4:
 
Consider/approve payroll. Motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Rodney Smith to approve the payroll presented for payment by the County Auditor, Gina Jones. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered.
 
ORDER NO. 5:
 
Consider/act on departmental reports. There were no departmental reports presented.
 
ORDER NO. 6:
 
Consider/act on bids to purchase a used motorgrader for Precinct 3. There were two bids received for a used motorgrader. A bid was received from Warren Cat in the amount of $182,500 for a 2005 motorgrader with less than 1,650 hours, and a bid was received from Yellowhouse Machinery Company in the amount of $174,000 for a 2009 motorgrader with less than 800 hours. Motion was made by Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Jimmy Young to accept the bid from Warren Cat and to authorize Judge Thompson to sign the contract. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered. Judge Thompson signed the contract.
 
ORDER NO. 7:
 
Consider/amend the 2010 holiday schedule. Discussion regarding changing the April 5, 2010 Easter holiday because of early voting during a possible runoff election. Motion was made by Commissioner Kent Lewis and seconded by Commissioner Rodney Smith to cancel April 5, 2010 as a holiday and to add December 23, 2010 as a county holiday. The vote being called for and Commissioners Kent Lewis, Rodney Smith, Danny Short and Judge Thompson voting Aye and Commissioner Jimmy Young voting No, the motion carried and so ordered.
 
ORDER NO. 8:
 
Discuss/consider/act on policy for Lamb County Activities Building at Olton. Motion was made by Commissioner Rodney Smith and seconded by Commissioner Danny Short to change the rent from $75 to $100, the deposit from $50 to $100, parties after 9:00 p.m. must have security, and the Lamb County Activities Building at Olton must close by midnight. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered.
 
There being no further business to come before this Commissioners Court, motion was made by Commissioner Jimmy Young and seconded by Commissioner Rodney Smith to adjourn. The vote being called for and all voting Aye, the motion carried and so ordered.
